
Shane Aube, AKA "Sugar" joins the Down East Bird Dawgs as the team’s Public Address Announcer for the inaugural 2025 season. Aube brings a lot of experience to his role as a sports announcer and host. He was the voice of the Down East Wood Ducks since 2023, adding his distinctive style to the ballpark experience. In addition to his work with the Wood Ducks, he is the voice of Wayne County American Legion Baseball and has served in various announcer roles for teams such as The University of Mount Olive, The Arendell Parrott Academy Patriots, and Goldsboro High School Cougar Football. His voice can also be heard at events like the NCAA Division 2 Baseball National Championship and the Wayne County Hot Stove Banquet.
Aube's love for sports and broadcasting began while he was a student at the University of Mount Olive, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication in 1994. Since then, he has built a well-established career, continuing to shape the sports landscape of eastern North Carolina.
When he’s not behind the mic, Aube is an Account Executive at Curtis Media Group in Goldsboro-Kinston, blending his passion for sports with his professional expertise. He currently resides in Seven Springs, NC with his wife and several cats.
